
Ship Bio
The first of two Genesis class ships to be built by Royal Caribbean was ordered in February 2006 and is expected to be delivered in the fall of 2009. Built by Aker Finnyards, it will become the largest most expensive passenger ship ever built. At 220,000 GRT, 1,180 feet long and 154 feet wide, she will carry 5,400 passengers and be based year-round at Port Everglades, Florida for sailings around the Caribbean. The keel was laid on December 11, 2007.
Royal Caribbean has held a contest to name the first Genesis class ships.
